I joined the staff at Racemeadow in September 2014 as Early Years Lead Teacher and became a member of the Senior Leadership Team in January 2015. I was also elected to the new governing body as a staff governor in January 2015.
Before training as a teacher I worked as a financial advisor for a building society before leaving to start a family. As my two daughter’s started school I became involved firstly as a volunteer, a parent governor and then qualifying as a Nursery Nurse and supply Teaching Assistant. I utilised my degree in English and went on to train as an Early Years teacher. I have worked in this capacity for the last 11 years. During this time I also became a Maths Specialist Teacher.
I choose to work in Early Years because I firmly believe that if you provide a strong foundation for children in their formative years it paves the way for children to fulfil their potential in later years. It is so important that children are taught key skills correctly and gain the confidence to attempt anything without the fear of making mistakes. I am proud to be part of a fantastic team that includes governors, children, staff and parents.
