Safe and Active Travel

We will be taking part in the

Warwickshire Safe and Active Schools Award again this year.

After our success last year, we are once again aiming to achieve the...

GOLD AWARD!

What do we need to do in order to achieve this award?

Throughout the year we will be participating in many Road Safety related activities, in our classes, as a school and at home. Each of these activities will not only help us learn how to stay safe as we travel but also earn us points.

We are aiming to earn 24 points by the end of the school year. laugh

ROAD SAFETY WEEK

This week we have all been learning about keeping safe whilst on our travels. We had assemblies in our classrooms and completed activities about how to stay safe near the roads, how we travel actively and safely.

Year 3 investigated stopping distances & also had a great time learning how to ride their scooters safely

How safe are the streets around our school?

Today some of our Year 6 children met Sam, from Living Streets and Alice, from National Highways.  We walked a short route to carry out an audit of the streets, immediately outside Racemeadow.

We used our senses and considered how safe we felt, observing the traffic, crossing facilities, pavements and safety provisions.

Our findings and opinions will be reported to the council and hopefully, in time, improvements will be made to make our streets and journeys to and from school much safer.
