Summer 2 Mini-mission

Oh I Do Like To Beside The Seaside

In Science, children will learn about animals and their habitats. In History, children will learn how the seaside has changed over time. In Design and Technology, children will design and make a hand puppet using textiles and in Computing, children will learn about coding.

On immersion day we talked lots about the seaside then we made seagulls, windmills and even rolled our own seaside rock to go in our shop!

Summer 1 Mini-Mission

Enchanted Forest

In Science, children will learn about plants and habitats through scientific investigation. In Geography, children will identify seasonal and daily weather patterns and how to use directional language. In Art, children will learn how to weave using natural materials and in Computing, they will learn how to code.

Our Spring 2 Mini Mission is Lady with the Lamp.

In Science, we will look at exercise and nutrition, thinking about how we can stay fit and healthy.

In History, we will compare Florence Nightingale with Mary Seacole, using a range of sources and looking for similarities and differences.

In D&T, we will research, design and make healthy soup that might have eaten in Scutari.

In Computing, we will learn how to stay safe online, in the context of using the internet to research.

Our Spring 1 Mini Mission was `Carnival`! 

In Geography, we compared Rio with Atherstone and explored physical and human features. We also used maps and atlases to explore hot & cold climates.

In Science, we learned about animals including humans.

In Art  we designed and created our own rainforest inspired print.

Our Autumn 2 Mini Mission was Dungeons and Dragons. 

In History, we learned about events from the past and local History, during our visit to Tamworth Castle. In Science we worked scientifically to test the strength of castle walls made from different materials. In DT, we designed and made a throne for King Teddy.

Lights, Camel, Action! by Year 1 and 2.

Sadly, after all our hard work preparing and practising, our Christmas play - 'Lights, Camel, Action!' had to be cancelled, but we decided to perform our songs for a video so that we could share them with you. We hope you enjoy listening to them and joining in!

Merry Christmas from Year 1 and 2, and all at Racemeadow. 

Our first topic is `Out of This World`. We will be learning about what the Earth looks like from space.

In Geography, we will be learning about the 7 continents, 5 oceans, Countries of the United Kingdom and their Capital Cities. In Science, we will be exploring different materials and their properties. In Art, we will be using a variety of materials  and techniques to create a space collage.
