Please use school emails to contact us about any non-urgent issues.

Anything more urgent can be passed to us via the main school office. 

Key information

• Diaries and reading books should be in school every day.
• Water bottles will be sent home everyday to be washed and refilled. 
• Children can bring in their own pencil cases which should be left in school.
• Please provide a healthy snack (fruit, cereal bar, cheese etc)  or change for the tuck shop. 

Swimming will be on Thursdays. Children need swimwear and a towel.

Friday is PE day and children should have a full PE kit (white t-shirt, black shorts and trainers or pumps)

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be handed in by the following Wednesday. Homework consists of Arithmetic, Grammar and a short reading activity. Homework should be completed in pencil or a black or blue pen. In addition to this, children are expected to have read at home 3 times each week and have this signed by an adult in their diary.

Weekly spellings are stuck in the spellings section at the front of your child's diary, new spellings are given out on a Friday and will be tested on the following Friday.

Summer 1 - Where's Wally?

Autumn 1

This half term, using Augustus and his Smile as a stimulus, we will be developing our English skills by writing about Augustus' journey to find his smile. In Geography, we will learn more about the location of tigers around the world and using clues from the text explore his journey around the world.  In Art, we will be using print to replicate illustrations and Henri Rousseau’s work, in particular "Surprised! Tiger in a Tropical Storm."

The Digestive System

To launch our new topic, we entered the hall and became archaeologists! We started investigating clues for our topic. To begin with we used different tools to dig up artefacts such as: a trowel, sieve and a brush to find the objects in the soil. As we dug, we discovered: numbered envelopes, pictures, mosaic tiles, coins, a wooden plaque, broken pottery and a bracelet. Whilst we were investigating, we had to think about questions we would ask about the artefacts.  Using our detective skills we tried to identify what ancient civilisation our topic was about. After closer inspection and a class discussion we discovered out topic is The Romans!

Spring 1

Year 4 DT Project

This half term we have looked at the importance of recycling. The impact plastic has in the environment is devastating and the amount produced per person is astonishing. Over the next few lessons, we are going to design and make products made from plastic that we can sell to raise money.

Spring 2

We came into the classroom to find scrolls had been left on our tables. As a class, we discussed what we had found. There were several ideas for what our new topic could be; one of them being Ancient Greece because the pictures we found in the scrolls reminded us of images we had seen on our corridor timeline. Once we had established that Ancient Greece was our new mini mission and the scrolls were Greek Myths; we started to compare the scrolls. We noticed there were common themes such as: Gods, death, jealousy, imprisonment, punishment, revenge and monsters.
