I have been involved in education for all of my adult life, teaching in Infant, Primary, Secondary and Special schools. The last years of my career were spent working for the Local Authority as Assessment Adviser working with teachers, schools and the Curriculum and Qualifications departments of the Department for Education developing ways of ensuring that assessments of children’s progress and individual needs were accurate. After I retired from working for the Local Authority I wanted to carry on being involved in school life.
I became a Governor at Racemeadow on the original Governing Body and moved over to be a member of the LGB when the school converted to become an Academy. I became Chair of the new Governing body in January 2015.
I believe that every child is entitled to a broad, creative and exciting curriculum that will help them develop into strong, confident individuals able to grasp and handle whatever opportunities the future holds for them. I am committed to working with the staff, parents and pupils to make this happen and to carry on with the progress the school has made of the last couple of years.
