Competition Time!

This week we see not one but two Warwickshire Athletics competitions. Over the next 2 weeks, there are 4 sporting challenges (football, volleyball, athletics and gymnastics) as well as a competition to design a flag for the CSW (Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire) School Games (see the template for further details).

I can't believe the last week of term has arrived!  Well done year 4, you have all worked so hard for so long in these strange times. We are moving into the penultimate week of school and I have to say it has flown by. You have all continued to work so hard and I am proud of every one of you. For spellings this week it is about seeing how many year 3 and 4 word bank spellings you know and so this week I would like you to play a range of spelling games to recall these: hangman, battleships or any online games that you know of are great ways to learn these spellings. Challenge a member of your family - who can score more in a spelling test!?

Good morning year 4. I know many of you are finding motivation for home learning more and more difficult as the weeks have gone by but I am so proud of you all for persevering. Only 3 more weeks until the end of term so keep going. As always, there is daily maths, reading and spelling to do in addition to topic work on the Greeks. Good morning year 4, and welcome to week 2 of our topic on the Greeks. I have already seen some fantastic work produced so far and am looking forward to seeing the creative ways in which you choose to present this work. As always, there is daily maths, reading and spelling to do also. Monday 15th June 2020

Good morning year 4, this half term our topic would have been the Greeks. As such, in addition to the daily Maths, Reading and Spelling lessons there are some topic activities revolving around this topic. Over the next few weeks, these will be updated to reflect what we would have been learning in school. Week beginning 8th June 2020

While some of you will be joining us at school in the "childcare" bubble, others are staying at home. Whatever you are doing, I hope you are safe and well and enjoying time with family or friends (safely of course). This week, free choice is themed around the reading text Five Children and It. Maths is revision of fractions but no need to panic we have done this before in class. There are tutorial videos available online if you are struggling or just email me for help. Week Beginning 1st June

Welcome back Year 4! We are entering the final half term of this school year and as the weeks past year groups will be returning to school. For now, you are continuing with home learning and I am back in school. I am still available via email for any support and would still love to hear how you are getting on. Keep safe and keep smiling. Week Beginning 25th May 2020

Well done year 4, you have all worked so hard over the past few weeks and have shown great resilience and remained so positive. This week is half term and so there is no home learning. Continue to enjoy your time with your family safely and I look forward to seeing/hearing about all the adventures you get up to this week.

Is it really only one more week until half term?!? As you can see from all of the wonderful pictures I have received, you have all been doing so well with your home learning so keep up the hard work. I have especially enjoyed seeing how creative my class are through the extra choice activities. The reading this week is slightly different in that there is a single text for the week. All of the questions are based upon this text (The Water Cycle) but you do not need to answer them all in one day.

This week marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day so the free choice activities have a history theme. I have loved seeing all of the fantastic and creative home learning projects and approaches you have taken with these tasks and I look forward to seeing more. 

It was so lovely to speak to so many of you last week and I was especially proud to hear how positive you have remained throughout these strange times. I am looking forward to the day we can be together as a class.

Country Trust Food Discovery Project

This year we have the amazing opportunity to take part in the Country Trust Food Discovery Project. Watch this space for updates and photographs of our progress through this project.

Autumn 1 - Blue Abyss

This half term our topic is called "Blue Abyss". We will be learning about the living organisms found in our oceans and the impact humans have on these.

On Monday 24th February, we entered the hall and became  archaeologists! We started         investigating clues for our topic. To begin with we used different tools to dig up artefacts such as: a trowel, sieve and a brush to find the objects in the soil. As we dug, we discovered: numbered envelopes, pictures, mosaic tiles, coins, a wooden plaque, broken pottery and a bracelet. Whilst we were investigating, we had to think about questions we would ask about the artefacts.  Using our detective skills we tried to identify what ancient civilisation our topic was about. After closer inspection and a class   discussion we discovered out topic is The Romans!
