Sport at Racemeadow

We love sport at Racemeadow and get the chance to try out a variety of different types during our PE lessons, in extra curricular clubs and at inter-school competitions.

Sports Ambassadors

New to school this year was the launch of our Sports Ambassador scheme where pupils in Years 5 and 6 were given the opportunity to apply for one of the exciting roles.

As a sports ambassador, pupils support and encourage others to take part in physical activity at play and lunchtime whilst also ensuring inter-school competitions are well attended. The ambassadors meet regularly with school staff to share ideas and also ensure the PE and sports equipment is kept tidy and in a safe condition.

Our Sports Ambassadors this year are .....

Inter-School Sports

We are lucky to have the opportunity and to have the support from school staff and parents to take part in a wide range of inter-school competitions. Some of those we have participated in include ...

We took part in a Year 3/4 tournament where we managed to win the group stage and head through to the semi-final. After going ahead on goals we were pulled back to a draw and we were faced with a penalty shoot out for a place in the final. Fantastic teamwork and superb goalkeeping shone through and into the finals we went before eventually emerging as champions of the Newton Shield!

Well done boys!

After only 2 lessons learning how to play dodgeball, six of our Year 3 pupils very enthusiastically took part in a tournament against other local schools. After a busy morning, we were delighted to place 1st and to be invited back to the main final where we would compete for medals.

Just one week later, we battled through the final games and were very excited to find that we had finished in joint 2nd place.

Have a look at the team photo - don't we look proud!
