Our P.E. day is Tuesday - please send your child to school in their P.E. kit with earrings removed or covered with tape or plasters.

Homework will be sent home every Friday. This will be a piece of writing and a piece of Maths. Please return homework books back to school by the following Wednesday so we have time to mark it. Please encourage your child to work neatly in their homework book, just as they would in school and use only a pencil. No coloured pencils/pens for writing.

Autumn 1 - The Rainbow Fish

This term, our classroom will be bursting with creativity, curiosity, and colourful learning adventures!

📚 We are Writers

We’re diving into the magical world of The Rainbow Fish, a story that celebrates kindness and sharing. As we explore the book, children will be developing their writing skills, mastering capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops. We’ll be building our writing toolkit by revisiting key grammar concepts such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and using them to craft beautiful noun phrases and expanded descriptions that bring our ideas to life.

🔢 We are Mathematicians

In maths, we’re strengthening our understanding of numbers up to 100. Children will be using place value charts, partitioning numbers, and working with number lines to deepen their number sense and confidence in working with two-digit numbers.

🌍 We are Geographers

Our geography topic takes us on a journey across the globe as we learn about the continents and oceans. We’ll be zooming in on Tromsø, a Nordic town in northern Europe, and comparing it to our own town of Atherstone. Through this comparison, children will explore physical and human features, discovering how places can be both similar and wonderfully different.

🔬 We are Scientists

In science, we’re investigating living things and their habitats. Our budding scientists will be exploring microhabitats on the school field, conducting experiments to find out whether insects prefer sunny or shaded environments. It’s a hands-on way to learn about ecosystems and the needs of different creatures.

🎨 We are Artists

Inspired by our reading and science topics, our art lessons will focus on colour mixing and tinting techniques. Children will create stunning underwater creature collages, experimenting with shades and textures to bring their sea-inspired artwork to life.
