Racemeadow Space Camp
Following a busy week completing SATS, Year 6 accompanied by Mrs Ward, Mrs Fraser and Mrs Collinson slept at school on Thursday 11th May on our first ever Space Camp. We were joined by Mrs Sam Croston from ESERO UK who shared some fabulous space related activities with the children, before everyone headed outside for some stargazing. On Friday morning, after just a few hours sleep, Year 6 were joined by students from Outwoods Primary Academy and the rest of KS2 to welcome NASA astronaut Michael Foale. This was a unique opportunity to listen to a real-life spaceman and the children were enthralled as he shared his amazing experiences with them. As if that wasn’t enough, Sir Steve Lancashire – CEO of REAch2 Academies joined us along with KS1 and Foundation Stage and presented some fantastic prizes to children across the school for their amazing science projects. Congratulations to all involved and a huge thank you to Mrs Fraser for organising the evening. It’s bound to be the first of many….
